ABOUT IMPACT
Matthew 25 is a volunteer prison ministry providing pen pals, educational scholarships, and re-entry assistance.
- Since 2012: Provided pen pal encouragement and decreased recidivism (264 inmates have received pen pals; 128 have become "returning citizens" and only four have returned to prison, giving Matthew 25 a return rate of 3.1%, as opposed to the national recidivism rate of over 50%.)
- Since 2015: Funded $98,047 in education scholarships.
- Since 2014: Funded over $11,000 in re-entry assistance.
ABOUT HISTORY
- Matthew 25 Prison Ministry, Inc. started in 2012 as Matthew 25:36 Prison Ministry under the non-profit status of a local congregation in Arizona.
- By 2019 it had grown to include several other faith-based traditions and community organizations when we filed to become an ecumenical tax exempt, non-profit under the name of Matthew 25 Prison Ministry, Inc. (EIN 83-4230345.)
ABOUT MISSION PRIORITIES
- To provide support, encouragement, caring and hope to primarily female inmates through our pen pal ministry.
- To provide education scholarships to inmates in need of financial support.
- To provide re-entry assistance upon release.
